Exclusive Books – display

This interesting display stopped me in my tracks as I was walking by Exclusive Books at Cavendish Mall, Cape Town. I think that this is a great way to make shoppers stop and take note of a new service or product offer. Although I must admit that I was a bit confused about what the display was for. I had to go inside and ask a shop assistant because, even though the display is very clever, the main problem was that I did not understand the message the display was trying to give me. There was signage on the floor-boards which I could read but the layout of the very important poster that communicates the message was not clear. As the poster communicating the message is below knee level I felt the following about the poster design:

1.  The main message, the website address, should be bold and on top of the layout and it is important to note that the online store name “Exclus1ves.co.za“ differs from the store name Exclus1ve Books.

2.  I like the way the layout uses the circle icons for the categories, i.e.movies, music, games and books but was disappointed that the same icons are not used on their website, as this would have helped me navigate much more efficiently.

3.  I love the simple colour palette: red, black and white.
